business!
Bio
From a road trip to the French Riviera, sheiks in Dubai, Asian rock stars, business plans,
corporate letdowns till Saying NO to naked furniture! Gert will present his short report on how
to turn ideas into business and the reason why corporate companies are finding it hard to give
creativity a real change.
The career of Gert started at the academy for Media & Entertainment Management at
InHolland, Haarlem. Here, he and three friends came up with the idea “what will happen if we
would present ourselves as a Dutch TV crew, making a lifestyle program about the life of the
rich and famous at the French Riviera”. They went to Côte d’Azur having the best time of their
lifes, and one year later Big Shots television was born and the TV program was broadcasted
by MTV. Today Big Shots is a production company with more than twenty employees, and
they are the next generation content creators.
After Big Shots television Gert went to Endemol as a creative concept developer and after
that was asked to help KPN starting up a media department.
After finding out that real creativity and new ideas can not be put into an Excel sheet he
started the website www.thisismykea.com. MyKea makes it possible to re-design your
IKEA furniture. Working together with local and international designers MyKea makes
it possible to add a layer of personality to your IKEA dresser, bookcase, bed or table.
Even though MyKea is still a start up that needs his full attention, Gert has already two new
inspiring ideas up his sleeve.
